Fall Docent Training

Join us for Docent Training! Training will be held from October 16th-November 2nd. Participants will be treated to an inside look at the Pajaro Valley and its unique network of freshwater wetlands and receive education and training from experts in how they can contribute to environmental education, outreach, and restoration of these rare and vital ecosystems. Docent trainees will learn about the natural and cultural history of the wetlands while having fun with professionals and other volunteers committed to community education and environmental conservation.

Our interactive sessions will consist of Wednesday evening presentations from 6-8pm and Saturday morning field trips from 9am-12pm.  Presentation topics include the historical and current conservation and restoration efforts, nature interpretation, birding basics and native flora and fauna species identification, and training in providing tours and field experiences for students and community members.

After completing the training requirements docents become part of a dedicated group of over 100 community volunteers that provide invaluable help supporting the improvement of the Watsonville wetland ecosystems and the community.

No previous teaching, restoration, or science experience is necessary – we celebrate volunteers with all levels of knowledge and everyone is welcome.

Please contact Noelle Fletcher at or 831-455-6771 with questions.
