Earth Day / Dia de los Ninos
Join us in Watsonville on April 22nd, 2018 to contribute to the global Earth Day phenomenon in our little corner of the world. Festivities will occur in Watsonville City Plaza from 12PM – 4PM. Earth Day was founded on April 22nd, 1970 with over 20 million people participating in activities in that first year. While it began in the U.S. it was recognized world wide by 1990 and many countries around the world have contributed greatly to the global Earth Day community – on Earth Day 2012 over 100,000 people rode bikes in China in an effort to bring attention to reducing CO2 emissions and on Earth Day 2011 28 million trees were planted in Afghanistan by the Earth Day network. In fact the reach of Earth Day has grown so much that in 2009, the U.N. officially recognized the day as International Mother Earth Day!
